Pros

The people are the absolute best part about Acorns. I had some of the greatest coworkers at Acorns and made great connections and friends I know will stick for years to come. Future employers of Acorns employees will be ecstatic to have workers this great and passionate. - Free lunches twice a week - Free breakfast every morning - Unlimited PTO (although your manager can deny your requests still) - Nice office

Cons

This company has gone downhill within the last year and it was truly sad to watch it happen. When I started compared to when I left feels like two completely different companies. When I started here the employee turnover was really low, the culture was something the company was proud of and worked hard to uphold, management seemed to genuinely care about their employees. At the end it felt like there was someone new leaving every week, management is trying to make make the company profitable by letting go of or pushing out their employees, culture no longer seems important to the company or management. - Compensation doesn't seem to provided based on skills and quality of work, rather an ambiguous number - The company is attempting to not provide raises by claiming majority of the employees are performing just okay - There is no clear career path and forward progression for employees - Upper management makes questionable decisions and leaves the day to day people to pick up the pieces when things go wrong as a result - Feedback is always asked for as if something will actually be done with it, however there is never any action to make things better - Employees that used to be extremely motivated and excited about their job now seem like they would jump on any opportunity to leave the company - Leadership is shaky and quick to cast blame, point fingers, and throw employees under the bus - Great employees that are good at their job and care leave because they get frustrated enduring the same issues and never seeing any positive change - Turnover of quality employees is high - A lot of the managers need to improve their people skills. Learn to balance criticism with positive feedback. - I am sure they already are, but if not, I predict employee satisfaction and NPS scores to start plummeting.

Acorns is not declining. We’ve grown in every area of the business. What is changing is the pace and rigor with which we’re running the business. We’ve been transparent about the fact that we are in a period of change. That can involve making difficult decisions. We know you were impacted by some of these changes, but it’s important to understand that we’re doing this to protect our complete team, culture, and customers. We care very deeply about everyone that works here including you and every single customer we serve. It’s the same team here that’s been looking after things since you joined, so nothing has changed beyond more of an emphasis on results which is critical for any business. We’ve all talked openly as a company about why that’s so important. As always, we remain open to any and all feedback which is why we have internal tools like Office Vibe and All Hands. We will try to learn and grow from this situation. We wish you the best in your next chapter and hope that you are able to grow as well.
