Pros
Enjoyed networking with local businesses and gaining more experience with hiring, evaluation, etc. of employees. Liked hearing from people in the community that the lot looked better. Also, it's a pro that I don't work there anymore...only work here if you are desperate or plan to discreetly look for other employment at the same time.
Cons
While the community noticed the improvements in the appearance of the lot, this was not echoed by folks at Headquarters. I brought in my own tools to fix equipment, including welding. I (and my team) increased sales over 50% in a year and yet this gained me nothing in terms of those in charge. When the Dept of Labor law about overtime pay for exempt workers was supposed to go into effect, instead of raising my pay, the owner chose to take me down to hourly and cut my pay over $3/hour. With overtime I would've had a $2,000 increase but even that was an insult considering my relatively low starting salary and the vast improvements I had made. Hostile and toxic work environment. People are fired frequently. All positions are expected to use their own equipment for relatively low pay. Company does not adhere to OSHA or DOT regulations. When this is mentioned to the owner he ignores it or flat out demands that employees proceed. Product and pricing are absurd. Trailers are old and in constant need of repair. Outrageous pricing lost multiple deals on our lot. When I left, they refused to give me my last paycheck. Despite citing the Maryland laws which forbids denying a paycheck, I've still had to make a complaint to Dept. of Labor.
