Pros
As a social service agency it is a great place to work. Helping people in times of emergency is very gratifying. Teaching people how to prepare for emergencies and how to help save a life is a life long skill that many do not forget. Getting that emergency message to a soldier station overseas eases the distance crisis that families face. To work for the Red Cross you must believe in the mission and base your work and actions on the mission. The Red Cross is known nation wide as well as world wide. Only one other logo is more recognized than the Red Cross. It is very gratifying to say, "I am from the Red Cross and I am here to help you."
Cons
Working with management at National Headquarters. they soar at 35K feet and do not get to see the real work that goes on. They depend on statistics for a basis of results. They employ outside agencies to write and review Red Cross programs and do not use the knowledge that is in the chapters.
