Pros

The only Pro of working at Amica is typically their stability. However, that is starting to wane as they have been laying off more and more teams.

Cons

- Lower than average salaries - HR reports you to your manager if you use more than half your sick time - Low performing employees aren't punished as long as they show up to work everyday (causing the rest of the team to pick up the slack) - You can get in trouble for menial things that aren't in the employee handbook, like not tucking in a Polo shirt (the rules don't say you have to tuck it in) - Management is largely incompetent and out of touch with the times, technology, and current workplace cultures - Despite Amica being largely non-client facing (in-person), the dress code is still strictly business casual, though the out of touch management sees this as a great benefit because they have been around since suits and ties were required. - There is no culture to speak of: Everyone comes to work and largely watches the clock just waiting to leave - nobody, or at least VERY few people seem even slightly happy there - If you accrue large amounts of sick time due to working absurd hours, you're essentially not allowed to use the sick time because you'll only get behind on work - this is due to poor management not growing the teams to keep up with the workload, thinking that working more hours is the solution - Management tends to rarely ever work overtime despite forcing their teams to - There is no work-life balance - It doesn't matter how early you come into the office (for those that aren't remote), you are forced to stay until a specific time. This is despite the fact that it isn't a rule and HR states this isn't required. Again, VERY poor management - Senior level management/Executives are held in such high regard, you can get "scolded" just for speaking with them actual work - Executives have their own private parking garage and instead of sitting with their teams, they have their own private floor. - Nearly everyone that is an Officer or higher got to that position by simply showing up every day and not quitting; it doesn't make them qualified and in my experience (I worked with nearly every single team), most of them aren't remotely qualified to manage a team

Pros

Excellent training and onboarding, supportive colleagues, and plenty of opportunities to develop professionally. Ample support for continuous learning and the chance to take on more responsibility over time. The benefits are competitive. There is room for growth and advancement over time.

Cons

I haven’t come across any downsides.

Pros

Nearly all remote work for most (some are 100% remote). Some still hybrid if you are unfortunate to live close to a branch. They try to keep work life balance there for you. Most management (some do not) actually care for you personally. For the industry, caseloads are manageable (still tough job).

Cons

They are slowly becoming more and more controlling in how you work. The new phone system that is coming in (Genesis) is "big brother" listening in and monitoring your day-to-day activities to make sure you are in fact working. NOT A GOOD FEELING! It started with front line staff and now they seem to be rolling it out to their tenured adjuster staff. They should let the fact that we are settling claims show for itself. They say it is "training." I say it is intrusive and fosters a feeling of mistrust. Can't wait to retire! I love what I do, but don't like the trend I am seeing and feeling.
