Pros

The people I worked with directly were genuinely talented, supportive, and made even the most frustrating days manageable. My immediate team was one of the biggest reasons I stayed as long as I did. The permanent work from home policy also offered excellent flexibility and was one of the company's strongest employee benefits. Lastly, Angel One has immense potential. It has a strong brand, significant resources, and operates in an industry with tremendous opportunity. With the right leadership and a culture that values merit, accountability, and expertise over politics, it could be an exceptional place to build a career.

Cons

This was easily one of the most political marketing organizations I've worked in. Performance takes a back seat to favoritism. Visibility with senior leadership matters far more than the quality of your work. If you're willing to tell leadership what they want to hear, you'll likely do well. If you ask difficult questions, challenge poor decisions, or offer a different perspective, don't expect that to be appreciated. In my experience, that's often the fastest way to find yourself sidelined. The marketing leadership lacks a coherent understanding of modern brand building and long-term marketing strategy. Decisions often feel reactive, driven by personal preferences rather than data, customer insight, or strategic thinking. Budgets are spent freely with little accountability for outcomes, which is particularly frustrating given that this is a publicly listed company entrusted with shareholder capital. Another concerning aspect is the hiring culture within the marketing function. From my perspective, many hires appeared to come through personal connections rather than a transparent, merit-based process. Whether intentional or not, it creates the perception that who you know matters more than what you bring to the table. The result is predictable. Good people leave, independent thinking disappears, and the organization becomes an echo chamber where disagreement is mistaken for disloyalty.
