Pros
Federal contractors are sometimes called "butts-in-seats" companies. And sometimes - well, most of the time - it's meant derogatorily.
But I don't think there's anything wrong with a company providing payroll and other benefits to a group of people in exchange for some profit. I didn't have to bid on a government contract to win my job. I just had to show up for my shift on time every day and produce good results. AIT was a good partner in this. I helped them fulfill their contractual obligations and I got paid, on time, every two weeks. I had little complain about while working for them.
And I was really luck to have great managers. AIT knew to keep their mid-level leaders happy because they were the face of the company to the rest of us. This may seem like something obvious but so many companies fail to realize where the power in their organization lives.
Cons
I didn't really feel like I was an AIT team member because our group wasn't near HQ and our mission was specific to the customer we served.
Corporate sent our cards on our birthday's and during the holidays which, while not an original idea, was nice to receive. Especially since we had almost no interaction with them throughout the year.
