Pros

1. Its a highly ethical company .HR policies are well defined. People respect each other . Great work culture and no politics. 2. All Managers in PDC Software group are friendly, helpful and supportive. 3. Good work life balance.Good company to settle. But you will enjoy the work only if you are passionate and wiling to learn semiconductor domain.Be double sure if this is the domain you want to continue your career before you join. 4.Great perks(free medical checkup, gym reimbursement, bus pass, study reimbursement for learning technology that help you at work) 5. Onsite opportunity and to customer locations. 6. Decent bi yearly bonus, yearly hike and stock purchase options. 7. Low layoff rates. 8. No dress codes. 9.Flexible timings. 10.work from home is available for valid reasons.

Cons

1. Applied Materials is leader in materials engineering and thats why Software takes the second seat. If you are a person passionate to work in cutting edge technology in CS perhaps this is not for you.. 2. Learning curve is steep within the semiconductor domain but very shallow from technology perspective. 3. Most of the work is done with Core java and swing technology with a legacy internal framework which is less documented. 4. Less parties, fun and games at work. 5. No free food, only tea and coffee. 6. Compensation is little on a lower scale for software engineers when compared to market trends for similar work. 7. Work doesnt appear challenging after a few years.

Pros

This is a company with a great future and overall many smart and talented work colleagues.

Cons

There are pockets of poorly managed teams and the Global Sourcing and Procurement Team is one of them. Working for GSP was a soul crushing experience. On a regular basis, I witnessed and experienced mobbing, gaslighting, bullying, senior leaders retaliating and weaponizing the 360 feedback program for their own personal gain, senior leaders taking credit for other peoples work, long tenured leaders abusing their relationships within HR, regular staff crying and people admitting to seeking professional help due to the toxic work environment…ptsd in GSP is real. And to top it off, Applied’s most senior leadership have known of these issues for years.
