The team itself was genuinely good, and the remote setup worked well. The company has an interesting mission and real potential. Day-to-day, the people around me made things manageable and there was a sense that this could become something meaningful down the line.

Burnout is a real issue. The company is understaffed, pay is below market, and there are few benefits beyond basic health insurance. Extra effort often goes unacknowledged and rarely translates into recognition or growth. Leadership is the core problem. The cofounders, who are married to each other, run the company in a way that creates constant instability. Priorities shift frequently, decisions feel improvised, and working with one of the founders in particular can leave you feeling like you are losing your grip on reality. His version of events and expectations shifts so often that it becomes genuinely disorienting. There is a general undercurrent of frustration and honest feedback does not feel safe to give.
