Pros
-Some really interesting project opportunities at the national scale (though not guaranteed, people often get pigeonholed into routine, local work and don’t get the freedom to do interesting projects). -Fun people to work with, especially in the field environment. Comradery is what kept me at this job for 9 years. -Pay is salaried with straight time over time, if you work beyond your weekly requirement. So, you will get paid more if you work more.
Cons
-Billable Hours - Even if you have long surpassed your billable hour goal for the year, they will still confront and hassle you about having lighter weeks toward the end of the year (or at any other time). -Tried to remove my healthcare - when I told my supervisor that I had an upcoming month without much scheduled (asking her to help find me work to fill in my schedule), she suggested that I go part-time as needed, which means I lose my healthcare and all my benefits. -Inadequate pay - the pay is not even close to what it should be considering the demands of this job (like sometimes being required to work 6 days a week on large projects). Arcadis seems content with the high turnover rate.
