Pros
There are few companies these days that provide real opportunity for growth from within. I started as a premise technician 8 years ago. At that time, I knew very little about the industry or how to install these services. I was able to join a great team that fostered a really supportive environment. They taught me everything I needed to know to be successful. I have always been able to count on the rest of the team to help me out when I've needed it. The local office and the company have time and again shown that they genuinely value their employees. There were immediately opportunities for growth. I was able to nearly double my hourly rate within 5 years through company paid training classes. Annual increases were always $1.00-$2.00 per hour minimum. Two years ago, I accepted a promotion to Commercial Account Executive and my salary increased again. I cannot imagine working for another company.... especially in the cable / internet industry. This really is a special place and a terrific company to work for.
Cons
The only item I can list as a "con" is that when working as a technician, you are outside frequently. That is great April through November usually. December through March is less enjoyable! The work still needs to get done so you have to bundle up a little more and adapt to the weather which, in very cold temperatures, is not always easy. When it gets severely cold, the office team is usually really great about pairing guys up and limiting the amount of outdoor work that gets scheduled.
