Pros
Working at BDO provides a solid learning experience, as we have the opportunity to be involved in audits of at least three companies per year, which allows us to gain broad exposure and develop a strong understanding of complex financial reporting. Depending on the department, some teams focus more on offshore clients, while others primarily handle local clients, offering varied experiences based on the area you join.
Cons
1. One of the challenges at BDO is the high turnover and gaps in the lower hierarchy levels. As a result, team members often end up on the same audits repeatedly. While promotions occur and titles may change each year, the responsibilities do not always shift accordingly, meaning we may gain in title but continue to perform tasks typically assigned to lower graded positions. This can limit exposure to new responsibilities and growth opportunities in different roles. 2. Deadlines are getting shorter while audits are becoming more complex due to new regulations and software, leading to more overtime that isn’t always understood by higher levels who experienced less complex audits. 3. The work environment is very toxic, with high pressure, frequent stress, and limited support in challenging situations. This can negatively impact team morale, collaboration, and overall job satisfaction.
