Pros

Work Remote, big-name clients, The community management is one of the best, super good engagement. Really good people who are smart and passionate work here. But they all tend to move on because they learn their worth in the process. The immediate team I was on. Very close and real friendships were made, some crazy smart women who have all moved on to do incredible work

Cons

Everything else, leadership, benefits, growth It starts at the top. CEO is a good ‘face’ for the company but is always so into her own missions to truly understand how to run a business. She isn’t open to hearing other’s opinions and often spends too much time saying the same message with little direction. She gets so hung up on her mission to defeat the bots. They preach the mission and culture as changing the internet and one big happy family, but the reality is the staff is overworked and underpaid. Honestly, the working environment is very toxic and emotionally draining. I was affected on a mental level and had to seek out help to deal with the anxiety that BTC caused me. I do believe the CEO and company has good intentions and does not intend to be malicious, but the execution of those “intentions” is poor. The only great thing about the company was the team I was on, we create such a great environment and most of us have moved on and stayed in touch. Many times I worked crazy work hours to make a living and pay the bills. I relied on overtime. I was also always told there was room to grow into a more leadership role and was always asked to take on more and more to “prove” I could work that next level, but when the time came they always said they had no budget or position for promotion, therefore I’d continue to work the position above me for a minimum wage rate. When CEO and upper management do “check-in” or praise you for the work it’s typically right when you are about to snap and just pulls you back in. A very toxic relationship. There are no benefits, we barely got 5 days of PTO per year. No real benefits for health care/ 401 K/ etc. Privacy Concerns: Be very very careful. After I left I had quite a few attempted login alerts to my Facebook, personal Gmail, and Instagram accounts. All in the DC area. Everything is linked to google chrome accounts and therefore if you have logged into anything on your personal BTC email chrome profile they can and they will go in and try and get anything on you. They constantly say they want fearless feedback but when you try to have a face to face conversation about your concerns, the CEO gets super defensive and doesn’t actually listen to anything you have to say. I worked there for more than 2 years and she continued to call people the wrong name on The bi-weekly BTC life call. They ask for you to come directly to them and not “back-channel” communication with the team, yet when you do you're ridiculed for it and they will retaliate against you. BTC can be a great company if you are one of the favorites, but it is clear they do play favorites. Be careful if you are not a favorite, you are always at risk. Many of the favorites have very positive experiences. Also, in-person meetings can be uncomfortable and you get stuck at the CEO's house for hours labeled as team building, but in reality, it’s just for them to try and gather info to later use against you. Once I was out in DC and met with co-workers off the clock and our direct supervisor and boss, ordered everyone shots even when we politely declined I felt pressured by him to accept and take the shots. It was one of the most uncomfortable situalitaions I've been in. I felt so pressured that night to drink more than I intended to with him, as he was a direct supervisor. Overall, I didn’t have the best experience and I know of others with similar issues and experiences. Be careful, no one has your back.

Pros

Great/incredibly smart team, fast paced, meaningful work. CEO is very focused on values and mission.

Cons

Can be high pressure at times, but if you enjoy that you will thrive here. There is down time to recover.

Pros

As someone who returned to BTC after a few years away, I can confidently say this is a wonderful place to work. While there is good structure here for most positions, you do need to be comfortable with change and evolution of your role as the company grows and have a “go with the flow” mindset, but that flexibility comes with real opportunity. The work here is fast-paced, grounded in humanity, and genuinely people-first. Individuals are respected and encouraged to show up as their full selves. We partner with incredible brands and organizations who also respect that. No two days ever look the same.

Cons

This is not the right environment for anyone who struggles with self-management. Our team works remotely most of the time, which requires strong self-discipline, ownership, and the ability to deliver high-quality work on time without super close supervision. We do communicate frequently (internal chats, video calls, etc.), but you're not going to be micro-managed.
