Pros
In my original interview a few years ago, the CEO stated that Briggo's mission was "To revolutionize the coffee industry." I felt that was a bold claim, but he meant it, and several years later the company is doing it. Management at Briggo recognizes the sacrifices its employees have made over the past several years, and has arrived at a good place in terms of work/life balance. Management is committed to continued improvement as well, recently moving to an unlimited vacation policy and hosting monthly lunches and dinners to get together and have fun. Management is super transparent, really recognizes effort, is always willing to change and listen, and I have always felt like they had our backs. You will learn a lot working at Briggo. The company employs amazing talent: A founder whose passion for both robotics and coffee will inspire you, roboticists who helped revolutionize tamper-resistance in medicine packaging, a mechanical engineer who helped draft OSHA's chemical safety rules, electrical and mechanical engineers with cool, deep, pioneering knowledge, a talented software team building out an amazing cloud and UI experience, and a management team who regularly checks in to make sure everyone is enjoying the job. Your professional experience will increase, you will help do things that have never been done before, and the opportunities to pick up new skills are ever-present in the company's warm, familial culture. The walls are adorned with statements around Briggo's philosophy of open debate and building each other up. The compensation is competitive. The benefits are great. Every person who works there is a sweetheart, ready to help and teach you. The current location at Stonelake is a 15-minute walk from dozens of great lunch locations and nature walks. You work hard at Briggo, but you're rewarded for it. One of the most fulfilling things about Briggo's approach is their commitment to connecting coffee drinkers with the farmers who grow their beans. The vision of the app telling users about the farmer who grew the beans they're about to drink is not only a unique, fascinating approach, but it is an effort that brings much needed attention and recognition to the international coffee growing industry. Briggo's commitment to the families and co-ops that grow it's beans is inspirational. Also, your office coffee machine makes the best, freshest coffee you've ever had in your life, so there's that little perk as well!!!
Cons
Briggo is a company with a huge imagination. It takes hard work to revolutionize the coffee industry, so if you're looking for a 10-3, 30 hours-per-week casual job, it probably isn't for you. You will be recognized and rewarded, and the work is satisfying, but you'll need to pull your weight. You may sometimes work evenings or weekends, but the improvements in work/life balance over the past 8 months have reduced this to a rarity. As Briggo scales up in the world of coffee, you will sometimes need to put in extra effort, but part of the effort in scaling is ensuring the robots and the cloud infrastructure do as much of the work as possible. At Briggo's current scale, you'll need to be an excellent communicator. If you prefer to keep your head down and minimize coordinating your efforts with others, again you might not be the best fit. You will be supported at Briggo, but you'll also be expected to support your co-workers and the management team, and that requires good communication skills and a commitment to using them.
