Pros
We are working from home full time which is good, hopefully this continues for this role into the future. A safe and stable job in times of uncertainty. Staff Discount
Cons
Workloads completely unrealistic, sometimes as little as 4 members of staff on shift expected to manage 140+ calls a day and over 500 new email tickets. This is the only IT role I have experienced in many years where there is absolutely no minimum technical knowledge requirements for staff, leading to a huge gap in knowledge. I've recommended a technical test during the interview process which has fallen on deaf ears. This inconsistency leads to high staff turnover and morale being one of the lowest I've experienced. During my hiring process I was encouraged that progression would happen and is achievable here by upper management. This hasn't happened, and the opportunities are incredibly rare and often it's a case of 'who you know' not what. I don't think any member of the Service Desk are considered for any roles within IT. According to other long serving members of the team there has only been one person to progress into another full time role in the 2+ years of the Leeds IT function.
