Pros

The position is a very flexible position. You have the ability to source your business from almost anywhere, and the ability to commit to almost any goal (given the client has a strong relationship with the bank and decent personal credit). The best part of the job was the job was prescribing solutions for business clients and maintaining/growing a portfolio. Helping businesses get started, watching them grow, and helping them see their visions come to fruition are the things you look forward to.

Cons

The worst part of the job was management not having a clue what happens on a day-to-day basis. My market was a market that got used to growing over 20% YOY and with a company that already had 51% of the market share (Business Banking), lost touch with what it was like to covet good profitable relationships and started focusing solely on acquiring new relationships (good or bad). The company has since, down-graded the pedigree of the Personal Banker position, which hurts because now prospective customers find themselves constantly being harassed, when they come into the branches. There's just a certain level of competency you expect from your banker. Middle management, in my region, have no sense of what that is.
