Pros
You get to know that huge projects do exists. And get to do drafting work on them. You get a raise of 2000 rs in a year. There is no overtime but you get bonus on Diwali from 2nd year on wards. that is almost equal to your months salary. If you are a fresher then you will get promoted after only 3 years if you work hard. And maximum is 5 years if you don't spend the nights.
Cons
For an architect this place murders the creative part inside of you. This is a corporate job where you have to as you are told however wrong that may be and later you are told to correct them hence doing the same work twice. The work required of you would be perfect drafting or modelling. Very few small projects starts from scratch or designed here. Else every project is transferred from other DAR offices to Pune for final drafting or detailed drafting. You are required to come to office whenever they want (eg: sat, sun, 2 in the night, 4 in morning, remain in office for 2-3 days). And you get no appreciation for your work. I once worked 3 straight days in the hellhole without even brushing or any decent sleep. Aside from office work culture is worse than anywhere else. People who do good work are suppose to move mountains whereas others just sit without any work. Doing good work is the worst thing you can do here. There is no consideration for anyone's personal lives and the Project managers give their own examples of lack of their personal life and sacrifice for the work if you ever want leave or an excuse to go early. The director even says "I don't care if you leave at night , might it be 3 am-4am whatever but you have to come in Time (08:30am). Its my way or highway". Its more of a dictatorship. Every person working in DAR is either searching for another job or thinking about leaving as soon as possible. In one year I worked there half the architects in the office resigned and left (and they recruited new ones , so your value to the company is zero). There are no seniors left to learn from and the project managers do not have time to tend to your problems. But if you make a mistake despite your efforts, it will come back at you for sure. There are no other benefits like food (if you stayed late), or company car to drop at night (only 1 car is available for girls after 10 pm). Keeping food with you in office is against the rules. So, if you are working all night for the office you better starve. To the new architects, Just out of college. The only thing you need to gain there is Revit (BIM technology). But it can be learned at other offices also. Do not come for money. Believe me its not worth your life. To the senior architects please rethink because you will be wasting your talent. I gave my one year to this company and worked really hard. I got the appreciation for my work at time of leaving. But only i know that my one year was not worth it.
