Pros
The most enjoyable aspect of the job was the team, all members work equally as hard and have a great relationship. All members of the time also have a shared love for the horses and a shared disagreement of how the horses and staff are treated.
Cons
Horses are overworked (sometimes on 5 hours of lessons) and a large number of them are lame - unfortunately clients do not notice as most are beginners. Horses that should be retired are worked into the ground which is upsetting for staff members. Management is rude and I have witnessed staff be reduced to tears multiple times. Unfortunately as the HR department have no horse knowledge management are able to get away with ill treatment of staff and horses. Lessons are a rip off as most ‘instructors’ are not even qualified to teach. Horses are purchased my the manager with no real check or review from anyone else meaning ill and inappropriate horses are purchased which are not suitable.
