Pros
There are a lot of great people at Pratt and there is a feeling of family and community within some departments. There was supposedly tuition reimbursement available for employees seeking to further their education (but courses were rarely deemed relevant and therefore did not meet requirements for reimbursement.) Multiple insurance options.
Cons
The office manager of my department made my life miserable. I hated coming to work because of her. She was an aggressive micro-manager, a bully, and never offered a word of positive feedback to her staff. Everyone was aware of the problems staff had with this manager but nothing ever changed. On top of this, decisions made by higher-ups rarely made sense. I left in the midst of renovations, and working conditions became poorer and poorer throughout. There were unrealistic expectations for staff regarding getting to work during excessive snowfall, and departments that were non-essential to daily operations of the library were required to assign essential staff who had to figure out a way to get to work during hazardous weather. It was also a huge bummer that the library is open on Christmas Eve. Dental coverage is not great.
