Pros

Epic is a great first job, they provide a unique atmosphere and great learning environment. It's easy to get along well with coworkers and I think financial compensation is definitely more than fair in most cases. I like the fact that it's an entry level position out of college that provides you with a lot of responsibility right away and enjoy the fact that the job is so full of variety. I also like that it's fairly independent, I don't feel that someone is watching over my shoulder telling me exactly what to do--their concept of hiring capable people up front pays off in this aspect as almost everyone you work with here is willing to step in and help out. I like the team atmosphere, and know there are always people around who will help out if I need it. In addition, it's nice to wear casual clothes to work every day and their campus and work environment is beautiful. Madison is also a great city to live in, as there's plenty to do and a young, active crowd. If you enjoy traveling, there are plenty of opportunities to do so!

Cons

I think Epic has grown a little too quickly. Advancement opportunities within the company seem somewhat limited, and I question their choices in a few people that they've picked to be team leads. I feel sometimes they fall into the 'squeaky wheel gets the grease' mentality and don't necessarily consider all aspects of a person's work ability and personality before deciding who gets to do what next. The company promotes themselves as being very open with employees but I feel this is slipping as they continue to get bigger and bigger. In addition, because of their extremely quick growth, you work with many very inexperienced people and a significant amount of time is spent trying to get the newer employees caught up to speed. this is okay in most scenarios, but can prove frustrating as it adds to the hours it takes to get anything done. In general I think Epic encourages people to become workaholics far more than they should. If you work 40-45 hours a week here, I get the impression yours hours are frowned upon. I don't think they do a good job of considering efficiency when deciding who works the hardest--it seems if you log more hours, you're more likely to get a promotion.
