Pros
You can learn so much from your peers and you're working with some of the best young talent in the country. The values and dedication to service are extremely honest and high respectively. You will learn about development cycles, work with quality personnel, technical problem solvers, and have some of the best facilities and culinary staff in the country. You benefit from what you put in, so put in early and recognize this culture is specific to Epic. Also - no dress code, flexible hours for non-customer-facing staff, you share or have your own office, break room well stocked, internal documentation is about a 7/10 as far as completely comprehensive (but there is a wealth of information, I very much doubt other organizations have).
Cons
Summary:Training gets you familiar with the software, but not your job. Not everyone's brain is prepared for the work with the sheer amount of information with both software and the healthcare industry AND how different members of the Epic family USE the software. Answering quickly is preferred, but you also need to temper your responses. There are a lot of judgment calls you have to make both in the wording of your messages and how you prioritize. Ask about this from tenured professionals to make sure you do it correctly. It's a very regulated in the healthcare industry. You won't learn everything through training, so make sure to take time and that you appreciate taking work home to master material. There are different versions and functionality between versions - you'll have to figure these out to communicate it well to community members. Lastly, you don't always feel apart of the team you're on - everyone works together but since some process are well defined you're expected to follow them without having a good discussion to make sure you can own the areas you're supposed to own.
