Terrible ! - Software Developer FLO | AddÉnergie Employee Review

Pros

None, except the fact that they build charging stations for Eelectric Vehicles.

Cons

Don’t go there. This is the worst company I worked for as a software developer. Incompetent people, some people having “architect” title, would be medium software developers at most in other serious companies. You will spend most of your time maintaining old terribly written software, doing QA and anything else than developing actual features or learning things, I bet you will even lose your own skills. Management doesn’t seem to care about this despite many people leaving. Also, something worth mentioning, they have closed culture, I am not sure but you feel that they prefer keeping everything French and avoiding anglophone candidates. There was an anglophone guy, meetings were in French, he didn’t understand a word, no one seemed to care. Very sad for a company working in a great field and a very interesting project. Too much bureaucracy, people talk and meet more than work, discussions kind of “we will/plan to do this and that” and end up doing nothing. My worst experience so far.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with us. We are deeply sorry to hear about your dissatisfaction and the challenges you encountered during your time with us. Your feedback is important, and we take it very seriously. You are right, FLO had some legacy products and technology that still were the most reliable one the market with more than 98% uptime still. To your point, a totally new set of innovative and state of the art line of charging stations will be deployed in 2024. In recent years, FLO has experienced exceptional growth, and although we have more than doubled the number of employees, this has meant intense periods of work, shifting priorities in a market that has not yet reached full maturity inducing a lot of questioning, meetings and operational challenges. We have made significant improvement since then as shown in our Employee Engagement Survey that has reached above 85% in 2022 and 2023. Our Quebec heritage is strong as the company was founded in Quebec City. Close to 500 employees are based in Quebec but we are expending a lot outside of Quebec across Canada and the USA. Therefore, our work culture and business practices have evolved accordingly. We strive to provide a supportive and inclusive environment for all employees, regardless of language preference, and we regret if this was not your experience. Rest assured, we're committed to fostering an environment where everyone feels valued and respected. We have launched in 2022, the Justice, Equity, Diversity and Inclusion (JEDI) program and trained all employees across the whole organization. Our JEDI Index survey, which measure our employee’s satisfaction toward Inclusion and Diversity and sense of belonging is above 70% (+10 vs 2022) but we recognize we still have room for improvement. Technological changes have taken place over the last few years as we have raised capital and hired competent software team and continue to this day. We are confident that this new generation platform will enable us to meet the growth that awaits FLO in the coming years. We genuinely appreciate your feedback and thank you for taking the time to write to us. If you have any other comments to share, please email us at talent@flo.com. Sincerely, the FLO team!

Pros

I have been very impressed with their honesty and balanced approach to business. Even when making tough business decisions they have been honest about why and what they feel is best. I appreciate them treating employees like professionals who can handle the ups and downs of business. They offer a fair salary and good benefits.

Cons

No major cons, The industry is new and ever changing so you have growth and the usual growing pains that come with it.

Pros

Remote working, flexibility, easy 9 to 5

Cons

Investors do not trust the leadership team anymore. A bunch of consultants have been hired by the board, and they are very old school, not modern, not polite. Expect to be laid off at any time, even though you are doing a good job and among the best contributors. They let go their entire marketing team for the second time, same with the sales team. It’s never the management team’s fault. Wrong people in directors and VP positions, friends promoting friends.
