Pros
This review is specific to GE Aviation site at Bangalore. Other sites may have totally unrelated Pros/Cons. Environment is conducive for a young engineer to learn and develop self into a high performing professional. Good for overall personality development and if you want... you can develop your technical skills too. People are generally good and helpful. Facilities at the center are good.
Cons
Overworked people. Management encouraging people to work long hours. No overtime. Too restrictive environment due to export control, access control etc. Beyond a certain point, technical development gets hindered due to these restrictions. Poor management policies - lack of long term vision for the center. Seen as low cost analysis center by senior management, not moving up the value chain yet. We hope the leaders develop the vision to move up the value chain. Salaries are low, managers are paid decently though. Hikes are also poor. Few trainings for new hires.... on the job training. Relations with senior management as important as performance for moving up the ladder. Performance alone will not get you there. Not encouraged to move to other businesses in search of career growth. Movements happen only if business need exists. Too many reorganizations. Atleast 1 every two years. Low growth due to mature organization.
