Pros
I accepted an entry level claims position with no direct experience and learned a lot about the industry and I made a career out of it. Two weeks vacation to start, ho hum benefits.
Cons
My experience may be unique but we were "cost plus" which equated to the client being way too involved in how we ran our office and we were treated like second class employees of theirs. We also had to tip toe around what they want and at the time that meant newer adjusters like myself weren't getting higher exposure claims and weren't advancing our careers. Also, again because of cost plus status, staffing was an issue and claims load was laughably absurd. Final straw was we were grossly paid under market value. So what all of that translated to is high turnover.
