Pros

Stability that comes with a corporate job. Very hard to get fired from incompetence, only if you break the rules in a major way. They did raise the 401k match to 5% this year.

Cons

No paternal leave besides federal minimum (you have to use vacation time if you want to get paid). Incompetent people do not get let go making teams not cohesive. If you care then you are expected to pick up the slack of your team members because "We're a team". I have inquired about student loan assistance and was met with resistance. They offer refi loans through Sofi, but interest rates are so high that this is not a benefit. Obviously, they are a federal contractor who may loose funding because of the Trump administration. There is lots of internal concern about the unpredictability around what funding they will have to pay their workers. They took their core values off of their website after Trump was elected, but they do not adhere to all of them anyways. As a salaried employee, you are expected to work at least 40 hours and extra if you need, but you are not allowed to work less. There is no give and take, only take. There is an obvious preference for former military personnel. Stopped creating remote positions. Senior management requires work to be defined in sprints, but then demands additional work not defined in the sprint which messes with the team goals and sprint evaluation.

Pros

Good pay and flexible telecommute options

Cons

Extremely basic benefit offerings. There also seems to be a very wide chasm between GDIT internal (management/corporate) and front-line staff who are focused on the contract.
