Pros

Working here is challenging, enjoyable, and an excellent work life balance. CEO and upper management are reasonable, intelligent and pragmatic.

Cons

Health insurance is so-so. Other than that the people here really go above and beyond to ensure this is an enjoyable place to work without it being cult-ey.

Thank you so much! We love having you on our team! We do want to get better health insurance and unfortunately we will need something to change on a national level as the private insurance sector is set up to penalize small businesses. We are trying though!

Pros

I started my professional career at Hudson Ferris and thank them for where I am today. This isn’t a company where you sit around and wait for emails to come in. Everyday at HF was different. From prospect researching, to best practices for grant writing, to how to make an ask, everyday I learned something new. HF gives you the opportunity to own your projects and the firm appreciates hard work and rewards you for it. If you want to learn the ins and outs of non-profit development and grow your fundraising experience, HF is the place for you. The leadership wants you to succeed, but you must be willing to work hard.

Cons

Sometimes work exceeds the regular 9-5 hours

Pros

Quite honestly there were no pros working at this organization

Cons

This was definitely one of the most toxic experiences I’ve had at a company in my entire professional career. They hired me for an entry level position and offered very little training to support individuals in their work. When I would ask questions about how to proceed with work, I was sat down with my direct supervisor as well as another senior employee on DAY TWO of working at this establishment and told I needed to work harder and try more. They recommended I work outside of company hours when I was only making 39,000 a year and was not paid on time per the biweekly schedule. When I brought this up to My supervisor I was told that “this happens”. I was also reprimanded for the smallest things. For example, I wanted to get work done in their laughably small workspace at the time and was told I was rude for listening to music to drown out the sounds of my coworkers cackling.

Everything in this review tracks to it being about our company circa 2018. We were in our early growth stages and could not afford a large office. We had issues with the payroll service we could afford at the time, and every other conceivable problem of a small business. Happy to report that we are a hybrid workplace, and we work hard to ensure that all of our systems flow smoothly. No one started here at $39,000 in a very long time, and at that time the salary was competitive for entry level work, otherwise no one would have taken the job. The fact that two people would speak to an employee about trying harder on day 2, if that did ever happen, would have only been triggered by something quite egregious. We were a small and collaborative team. Perhaps this reviewer's unkind assessment of their coworkers laughter ("cackling") speaks the greatest volume about how you treated your colleagues and how you were likely perceived by them as well. Sorry you had a bad experience and sorry that it has stayed with you for so long. We hope you have found success and are working to fulfill your passion.
