Pros
I was with IBI Group from 2006 to 2015, starting as a fresh engineering grad. I was with the systems consulting group. Here are my pros: - Plenty of flexibility, starting from working hours to project opportunities to experience possibilities to world-wide travel. - IBI supported and covered partially my grad school tuition and professional development courses. - I doubled my salary in half the time compared to my new grad peers – which required lots of on the job and off the job effort, late hours and making myself available. - Project-based organization - many opportunities to work with on a variety of engagements meeting all kinds of professionals and to learn from it. - World-wide paid work travel opportunities, if that’s your thing. From West Coast, East Coast to South Africa to Europe to India to Australia and Latin America. - Relocation opportunities: you can choose to move between offices, if you have the aptitude and thr right skill set. I have personally moved between 3 locations in the US and Canada. My main advice if you choose to work at IBI Group - get involved, discover, poke around, learn, listen, read, don’t sit back, apply yourself whenever your skills fit it, develop new skills, try things. Self-driven individuals succeed here. Those who sit back, expecting to be spoon fed, they eventually get frustrated and leave, then post negative reviews here about "lack of management".
Cons
Cons: - not a job for a regular 9-5 desk job expectation type of person. - not a suitable environment if you expect/need to be micromanaged or told what to do on a daily basis. - requires lots of flexibility. - definitely overwhelming at first - give yourself a year to learn all the Systems Engineering aspects. - depending who you work with - some senior management will care about you and others may not care so much.
