Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback. We’re glad to hear you’ve experienced supportive managers and flexibility through remote working, but we’re sorry to hear other aspects of your experience haven’t met expectations. We know the work our practitioners do is incredibly important, and we continue to review how we support teams through clearer communication, sustainable ways of working, and ongoing evaluation of goals and workloads. Our salary levels are aligned to the equivalent NHS roles and uplifted annually in accordance with NHS pay increases. Compensation packages are continually reviewed as part of our mid and end-of-year performance evaluation processes. We appreciate you sharing your perspective and wish you all the best moving forward.

Pros

I absolutely love the team culture here. There is a strong "autonomous vibe" that allows you to own your work and execute without unnecessary handholding or micromanagement. In my opinion, the company mission is underrated. We have a serious, tangible impact on the young adult community, which makes the work deeply rewarding. It’s great to see the genuine commitment from our leadership teams. They prioritize clear communication and are actively invested in helping everyone grow and succeed.

Cons

Like any startup organization, there is a high need to pivot quickly when changes come. You have to be comfortable with a fast-moving environment.

Thank you for sharing such thoughtful feedback. We’re so glad to hear that Kooth’s culture, mission, and leadership have had a positive impact on your experience. We know that working in a growing, mission-driven organization can require a lot of adaptability, especially as we continue to evolve and respond to the needs of the young people and communities we serve. Your point about transparent communication during periods of change is well taken. Clear, consistent communication is essential to maintaining trust and helping our teams feel supported through growth. Thank you again for the work you do and for being part of Kooth’s mission.

Pros

- Inspiring mission to help youth mental health + wellness - Big impact at scale in partnership with governments - Many quality employees that truly care about the work + outcomes - 5 weeks of paid time off (but no sick leave) in the US is seemingly uniquely generous but really more like 3 weeks of PTO + 2 weeks of sick leave

Cons

- Rolling layoffs without cause or rationale degrade psychological safety over time. Never know when you will be picked off next or someone you work with. People are laid off same-day without handoff which causes headaches and feeling of people just disappearing - Siloed communications mean other teams don't know about layoffs or big changes across the org, leading to confusion and missteps - Very little chance for career progression, even with good reviews. Lack of internal promotions/horizontal movement - Lack of product coherence and vision, their key app is lacking features like animations, games, or sound that other competitors have to hold young people's attention - Below-market compensation with a reliance on those believing in the mission to make up for lower pay - Often saw team members who are from more diverse backgrounds receive unfair reviews or unexpected layoffs without justification as compared to other folks

Thank you for taking the time to share this feedback. We’re glad to hear that our mission, impact, and the dedication of many of our people resonated with you. We also want to acknowledge the concerns you raised. Feedback around leadership predictability, communication during periods of change, career progression, and psychological safety is taken seriously. As a growing organization operating in a complex, government-partnered environment, we’ve experienced periods of rapid change that may have felt unsettling. We acknowledge that reality and we’re committed to listening to our employees and learning from these moments. Over the past year, we’ve been working to improve transparency, cross-team communication, and consistency in performance, progression, and decision-making, with a continued focus on fairness and equity across the organization. This remains ongoing work. We appreciate the contributions you made during your time with us and wish you all the best going forward.
