The only company I'm ashamed to say I worked for in 40 years and would never recommend. - Annoymus Lands' End Employee Review

Pros

You will likely never be held accountable for practically any of your actions. You'll be allowed to do things that you would likely never be able to do in other companies. For example, you will need to utilize maybe 65 percent of your time actually working (in my estimation) if you are an embroidery operator. You are then free to surf the internet, play on your phone, wander the floor and visit with others, and try to scare your coworkers. Workers can leave early and come back lake taking extended breaks, do not need to worry about how they utilize their time, clean up very early stand in front of the time clock at the end of the day, and punch out 2 or 3 minutes early on company time. You will also be able to engage in the me-first whatever it takes attitude as there is no type of departmental or company rules that management will make you follow. (even though they may claim they exist they do not apply consistently)I believe it's fair to say that you can be laid back and not worry about your work or personal ethics or lack of them here as they simply won't matter.

Cons

The cons are so many that it would difficult to list them all in my opinion. I believe the management is highly unqualified. They display true unprofessionalism in the obvious favoritism they show toward certain employees. They lack team-building skills, leadership skills, true listening, and people skills. I personally don't believe that these individuals know how to develop and ensure that departmental policies are followed. It is as well my opinion supported by direct employee feedback the company received years ago that accountability and consistency are problems. You will be in a work environment that I would best describe as toxic. Backstabbing, brownnosing. the use of profanity and malicious gossip are all things you will encounter routinely. A true lack of diversity exists contrary to what this company likes to claim. Its greatest diversity lies in the diverse number of problems that exist. The pay is also low even after being given the largest raise in the company's history in 2022. I believe it is also fair to say that the pay does match well with workers' jobs. an example of this is embroidery trimmers being paid the lowest wage grade in lands' end production. the pay for these individuals is less than what the housekeeping is paid.Lebo trimmers will be making significantly less than the average Walmart worker as Walmart just increased their pay again. Reporting that the average worker was anticipated at making more than $17.50 leaving lands end trimmers and possibly others in the dust. Land's end benefits have not kept up with other companies. The pay is low and behind many other companies. All benefited time is prorated and slanted in the company's favor. If you work in the lebo division you will be mandated to work nearly 6 months of overtime with vacation denied and will basically have no type of work-life balance at all. Although the company boasts that it offers vision, dental, and short-term disability. You pay the majority or in some cases all of the premium for these. You also pay a hefty premium for health insurance which is quite restrictive( an in-network plan) Out of pocket costs are high. By some companies' definition, they would be called catastrophic coverage. There is no room for either career or wage growth in this company. It's best described as a dead-end company where you come to kill or end your career not grow it. You can engage in dishonest behavior taking advantage of your coworkers to get what you want without the worry of disciplinary action.

Pros

Strong place to get your foot in the door if you're an intern or recent graduate. Hybrid schedule is a positive. Most coworkers are hardworking, supportive, and understanding because they're dealing with many of the same challenges. You will gain experience quickly because teams are often stretched thin and employees wear many hats.

Cons

Compensation is dramatically behind industry standards. This is the single biggest issue facing the company from an employee perspective. For design, merchandising, technical design, and sourcing roles, the pay does not align with workload, expectations, or market rates. Many employees commute from Madison. Between fuel, vehicle wear and tear, and the cost of living in Madison, compensation becomes even harder to justify. Product teams frequently work far beyond 40 hours per week. Long nights and weekend work are common, especially around major milestones and concept presentations. During concept season, expect your work-life balance to disappear. Weeks leading up to presentations often involve the design team working until 10 or 11 p.m. and sometimes weekends. Despite these expectations, support for employees during these periods can feel minimal. There is intense pressure to drive lower costs and higher margins, often at the expense of product quality. Many employees feel products are not as good as they could be because cost targets outweigh almost every other consideration. Leadership often feels reactive rather than strategic. Decisions can change quickly, priorities shift frequently, and employees are left feeling uncertain about direction and job security. Employee retention has been a recurring issue. A significant amount of talent has left in recent years, and meaningful compensation adjustments appeared to occur only after turnover became impossible to ignore. One of the most disappointing aspects of the culture was seeing members of leadership openly discuss and gossip about former employees after they left. When a large group of young, talented team members departed, the reaction from some leaders seemed more focused on talking about those employees rather than understanding the underlying retention issues. Watching managers criticize former team members in front of current employees did not inspire confidence and contributed to a culture where trust in leadership was low. The reliance on external consultants that are conflicts of interest is unsettling. This can be frustrating when employees feel their expertise is undervalued while outside voices receive greater influence and credit. Favoritism and conflicts of interest are frequently discussed among employees. Whether intentional or not, there is a perception that personal relationships carry disproportionate influence in certain decisions.
