The company furloughed employees immediately before the holidays, during a time when many had approved PTO. As a result, employees lost paid time off they had earned, suggesting the furloughs were structured to avoid paying holiday PTO and pay people to “not work.” Actually it isn’t a suggestion, it’s just blatantly true. This was not a normal cost avoidance was prioritized over people. The decision significantly damaged morale and trust in leadership.
