Pros

The patients you build a relationship with

Cons

- Horrible management - Older nurses hate change and new nurses - Lateral violence - Unfair assignments - Horrible pay - High turn over rate (which they lied during interview when asked) - Would rather jeopardize patient safety - Heavy workload resulting in burnt out nurses - Major disorganization - Nurses express how "easy" it is to steal narcotics - Constant gossip with the whole hospital - During Hurricane Harvey, they sent team A home the night before the code was called because they did not want to pay OT. In result, night shift nurses suffered working both day and night shift for 5 days straight. No place to sleep (slept on the floor or hard PT tables) and no cooks for food until people could make it in. Team B was never called to relieve Team A so the nurses who worked day and night for 5 days straight still came back to their regular scheduled shift and for most that was with one day break. Management could care less when they complained.

Pros

Quality care. Patient focused. Room for growth depending on skill but sometimes based on who you know which is a con. Lots of great providers who really care.

Cons

A lot of politics and favortism. People get promoted in leadership that don't deserve it which makes for a miserable experience for those working with them . Some senior leaders are disrespectful, overly demanding, disregard others time and effort, manipulative, aggressive, belittling, don't understand the workload of others, inflict punishment based on their feelings or because they want to, do things for their own benefit and are dishonest.
