Pros
Microchip Technology is one of the few MCU companies left in the semiconductor industry. Due to good business governance and multiple acquisitions it has performed well in the market consistently for past many years. Within the organization it is called a place for people to retire as people can maintain good work life balance with decent pay & stock options. People who expect stable job without much stress & still want to be associated with semiconductor product tag can find it nice place. Hardly any layoffs in the era of frequent firings. Stock benefits proportional to your stay with Microchip
Cons
The place may not be suitable for people with high aspirations and looking for challenging work. Due to high number of junior employees (< 4 years) many times the atmosphere in office resembles college campus. Work quality gets diluted and overall output is average. High dependency on US counterparts. The business mostly runs on legacy products as well as new products introduced via acquisitions. No innovation takes place and not much cutting edge learning. Payscale is average and increments usually happen once in 18 months. Career growth has no benchmark and lateral movement is difficult. You may get stuck in same position if your boss can't move up. Performance reviews are namesake and MCHP does not believe in rating. No correlation of performance and hike. Lot of time spent on ineffective trainings. Creates more of a process leaders than technical/people leader
