Pros
I learned a lot about dealing with incompetence in the work place
Cons
It’s not the micromanagement or the cold calling that left a bad taste in my mouth. Instead, it was the fact that the management made it very clear that only one thing mattered; deals. They would promote people with zero emotional intelligence as long as they hit certain numbers. Because of this, you MAY end up like me and have a boss or team lead who is not ready for leadership. Unfortunately if someone is "billing," everything else can be overlooked, including racism (constantly imitating Indian accents and saying African American candidates don’t interview well) and misogyny (spending more time talking about how candidates who happen to be women look than talking about their qualifications). If they have “the numbers,” the Director will have their back. I witnessed a manager physically assault another employee. That employee was moved to another region while the manager continued in their role. I could go on about the toxic culture and Kool-Aid drinking, but just know that there are less stressful ways to gain sales or recruiting experience!
