Pros
Really interesting and nice people and most of the time great direct management You really get to take ownership of critical pieces from the start and you have the opportunity to learn a lot.
Cons
When I joined NXP it had a great work-life balance, supportive coworkers and great direct management. As time went on all of those great coworkers who had worked there for 10, 20, 30 years left for other companies due to bad management. The good upper managers were let go and replaced with MBAs directed to maximize profit. Management has top down schedules and isn't willing to compromise on complexity or scheduling and refuses to hire enough employees to finish work. Work is your new life. Daily status and update meetings. This is in combination with relatively bad compensation. (30-50% less than the competition) NXP management themselves state that NXP is a "cost-aware" company. There has been huge attrition and yearly layoffs the past few years. Some sites have lost upwards of 40% of their engineers and many teams have similar attrition rates. Don't work here unless you're fine with work being your life. (:
