I’ve been with Neil Kelly since 2013 and have seen the company navigate many changes over the years. What stands out most is how truly unique this place is. In business for 77 years, Neil Kelly has a legacy of stability and trust—there are employees here who have spent their entire careers with this one company. The culture is exceptional. The company is sized perfectly, small enough to feel like a multi-generation, family-owned business where you personally know almost everyone, yet large enough to provide the resources, opportunities, and benefits of a well-established organization. You’re never “just a number” here. Since our new CEO took the helm, we’ve made remarkable strides, streamlining processes, integrating new systems, and embracing technology more quickly to improve both our operations and the customer experience. It’s been exciting to see the pace of innovation pick up while staying true to our values. Neil Kelly is incredibly generous with compensation, PTO, and benefits, and they truly value their employees’ well-being. This is a rare gem of a company, and I feel very fortunate to be part of it.

At times, the decision-making process can feel a bit layered, with many people involved before moving forward, but like in any established organization, it’s rooted in ensuring quality and consistency.

I started in an admin role years ago and now lead a team I truly enjoy working with—there’s a lot of opportunity for growth if you’re motivated. It’s a family-owned company with a family feel. The culture is strong and always improving, leadership listens, and people are trusted to do their jobs with autonomy. We’re also very active in the North Portland community, and that sense of purpose adds meaning to the work.

Our corporate office is outdated and too small for the number of people working here. It’s unlikely to change due to the building’s history and roots—but we make it work.
