Pros
Optum has some excellent providers, at least at the offices I have worked at. They go over and beyond to help the patients. The CMA's , do a great job. Hospitable, great bedside manner.
Cons
Pay is not up to what is deserved , nor competitive. Short staffed and help is no where to be found ( even when NOT on hiring freezes.). Very hard to get fired from there, which means lazy , non team players , no shows, always late folks will remain there. My former location had an employee that threatened the manager and was gone in a blink of an eye, but we also had an employee that threatened one of our CMA's 3 times in front of the PM and one month latter is still allowed to work there. Folks are overworked, are not have minimal OT but if you work to get all things done so patients concerns are addressed, you get told working to much OT. I worked at a very busy office , 4 MA's and 7 providers , and typically full capacity for most part daily. This makes it hard to attend to tasks and VM's. Acknowledgement was there that help was needed, but was told we would not have those resources anytime soon, yet we dont get the tasks and VM's done, and our hours minimal if any of OT, its our fault, our work flow needs addressed. We watch the hours, but things dont get completed, we get told we are ignoring the job we need to do and therefore hurting our patients. Not worth the stress, being overworked, lack of empowerment, lots of condescending feedback, no resources available.
