Pros

Best part about working for Pep Boys is that you will move up depending on how hard you work and how loyal you are to the company. For those who say its not a fair place to work or get promoted or that there is cronyism involved are upset because they give up after just being overlooked one time. Truth is if you do your job and do it well you WILL get recognized. Your numbers will show it as a manager or your customer satisfaction rate as an advisor or parts person or your productivity as a mech or tech.

Cons

Not enough trust in what managers have to say. If Loss Prevention or HR says a manager is in the wrong then no matter how much you prove or say otherwise.. You're in the wrong. They will take the word of a useless fruitless employee who is disgruntled to do away with a top performing manager. With a Company mindset like this.. at a time when this company is on the brink of falling flat... why would they have such a mindset? Its sad but true. Trust and Defend your managers especially the ones that try their best to make the company better rather than doing away with them at the behest of a loser employee.

Pros

The competitive pay. Thats about it

Cons

The whole guarantee system. Management, equipment. To anyone who decides to go to pepboys as a flat rate tech, they changed the guarantee system to where if you're not efficient, you only get what you flagged. So if management is bad, the location is bad and its slow, it gets rough. Prior it was a guaranteed pay based on you hitting 40 hours. Their excuse was people "abusing" which is really backwards thinking. If you're starting out, I recommend Firestone. The pay might be slightly worse but you'll have a guarantee of at least 30 hours. Also management at my location seems content only doing tires and flat repairs that hit budget. All while I have to come to them to see if my ticket got sold or if the fleet company approved of the work.
