Pros

Very, very flexible hours. I'm only on a 4 hour contract (which I wanted, there were many others like 16 hours and full-time available) because i'm a student so all I HAVE to do are my 4 hours on a Sunday. There is however a huge amount of overtime available, I've worked up to 30 hours during the holidays with the potential to do more. On these extra shifts I can choose what times and departments I want to work on, working anywhere from 4 hours to 12 (anything above 4.5 hours, you get decent breaks for.) I've worked in almost every department of the store. We have enough staff members to keep the store tidy, everyone has designated areas and it's rare in my large, busy and sometimes hectic store (Westwood Cross) to see anything on the floor EVER, and almost always the tables are neat and stocked up too. My managers and every single colleague i've spoken to are all absolutely lovely, my shifts including the night restocking shifts always go fast because when it's quiet you can talk and work at your own pace. It's honestly very rare that I encounter a nasty customer, in my 7 months as till staff i've had some wonderful conversations with some of the loveliest people i've ever met. There has only been one customer that made a complaint about a transaction I was involved in and that was a one off, someone looking for attention and some form of in-store spending compensation. People on here seem to complain a lot about the uniform not being provided/paid for but honestly my trousers (Primark) lovely, quality stretchy material cost me £7, my tops (Primark) plain black button up short-sleeved tops came to £5 each I think, and my shoes (Primark) very comfy, plain black flat shoes I think £4. It's hardly a huge stretch even for an unemployed student, you could literally buy charity shop clothes until your first pay comes. It's nothing flashy or elaborate.

Cons

A little staff discount would be nice but it's not something i'm hugely fussed about as the shop itself is so cheap. The pay isn't exactly incredible, it's a good amount over the minimum wage so i'm personally happy with it but I know others have left for other workplaces that pay more.

Pros

You get lots of PTO up front as a part timer and can gain flex hours overtime. Get a 50 cent raise every six months.

Cons

Was told during onboarding that if a Christian comes into the store spreading the gospel, I have to kick them out. This includes the mention of the Jesus without the church invite. Managers claim its rude and if a customer does it, they get booted. Faced harassment from a customer and management didn't let me switch too a different department. Extremely high turnover rate and managers don't replace them, making your job more stressful during peak hours. Hard to use PTO. Little to no training. Too many bachelor and master holding part timers who get lucked out of moving up in the company. Managers give some people no task while pilling on multiple tasks on one person. Too many managers to deal with (and usually never find) and the full timers make you do the dirty work while they "unpack boxes". Its a pro-LGBT anti christian company. If they want to be pro-LGBT, than more power to them. But anti-Christian is discriminatory and unnecessary.
