Very difficult to get promoted. Even with years of GM experience they preferred to higher externally and overwhelmingly hired external managers to run restaurants. Most of which didn't last more than a few months/weeks. A business should cultivate growth and encourage seeking out strong candidates for growth. They expect you to beg them for promotions. They say they want to only promote from within yet always end up going the opposite direction and hiring external just to have the same problems over and over again.
