Good Training and Steady Work, But Pay Raises Tied Too Heavily to Uncontrollable Customer Surveys - Master Technician Safelite AutoGlass Employee Review

Pros

Safelite offers excellent hands-on training for auto glass work, which is great if you’re new to the industry or building skills. There’s consistent demand for jobs, providing steady employment and opportunities to work independently as a mobile tech. Benefits like health insurance and PTO are solid, and the company provides tools and vehicles.

Cons

There were no real bonus opportunities during my time there—instead, pay raises depended heavily on customer survey scores. One or two negative surveys (often for things outside a tech’s control, like scheduling delays or pricing complaints) could prevent a raise or even lead to a pay adjustment downward. This made earnings feel unpredictable and stressful, as it put too much emphasis on factors beyond quality workmanship. The intense workload, long hours, and pressure to meet metrics added to the burnout.

Pros

Working hours, easy to learn, great environment.

Cons

The 1 minute late, rule. If you’re ONE minute late from break, lunch, or even clocking in.. it counts toward your “infractions”. You can only get 3 for the first 60 days. Even if your wifi goes out, you get sick.. anything. It counts.

Pros

The fact that they will teach you and train you to install Auto Glass? Cannot answer this truthfully

Cons

I've applied twice to the tech training position. The first time I thought that I may have made an error? The Yellow Brick Rd location had adds for 18 positions available. I applied again fixing what I thought the issue to be. I was again sent an email that they were not moving to the next step with me. This makes ZERO sense. I was just recently a slot tech out of Horseshoe. I also was a tech for a company that handed a few interior pieces for Amtrak.
