Pros

Co-Workers are nice, friendly members (for the most part) because you don't have just anyone coming into the store like you do with Walmart (where I've also worked), hours are ok if you are going to school part-time hours are from 16-28 hours per week, full-time hours (if you are lucky enough to get it, Sam's usually hires from inside unless the manager's are tired of the people currently working there or know someone that needs a job) are from 36-40 hours per week, always something to do, they reward employees for going so many days without incident (without member's falling due to messy aisles or floors) if you make it 180 days without incident you get a steak dinner party (my favorite) for lunch, they feed associates for holidays and sometimes if food is about to expire they will put it on the break room tables for associates to enjoy. Want job security? never stop learning different departments, i knew cell phone department, optical, photo, electronics, and hardlines (office supplies, furniture, soap, and dog food area) so not many managers wanted to see me leave also i was an expert and advocate of deescalation tactics, which managers loved because they wouldn't have to deal with member complaints. health benefits are good if you are full-time, as far as i know part-time associates do not get anything (evil laugh),

Cons

Management does have its favorites, promotion will be tough if you don't kiss some keester, member complaints are dealt with slowly, managers won't respond to the call "for member assistance", you have to hunt down manager's who are sitting in the office chit chatting, manager's aren't familiar with the departments they are in charge of so you will most likely have to deal with "make the member happy" although what they are approving is against policy and will only encourage member's to complain about the smallest things and managers make you look like a liar in the member's eyes because you told the member it could not be done but now magically it can be done, policy changes faster than i change my boxers, policy is also upheld depending on the manager working, you can be a half-assed associate and fly under the radar and not be given tasks but if you work hard and are dependable you are given far more tasks because managers know it will get done, but no consequences are done to the lazy associates, they are still there walking around with that same bottle of detergent they has 4 hours ago...

Pros

At the corporate level, the benefits and compensation are excellent. Colleagues at the producer level are standout teammates, talented, collaborative, and genuinely invested in the company's success. They consistently bring forward meaningful contributions and make the day-to-day work rewarding.

Cons

"Chaos" is not a word I'm using loosely. It's the word echoed across teams, including outside of Experience and Product. Leadership operates in a constant state of upheaval: frequent role changes, structural reorganizations, and strategy pivots that are implemented without any clear plan or consideration of cross-team impact. Incredibly talented people are let go as a result of poor leadership and people management decisions. There is no real culture of mentorship above the senior manager level. Leadership above the senior manager level made clear that mentorship isn't their responsibility and that you're expected to figure it out on your own, despite the company having training resources available. That disconnect is telling.
