Pros

I certainly learned a lot during my time here, but that was because I was given too many responsibilities and had to figure most of it out on my own. Nevertheless, I still learned a lot and am grateful for that. It is also a pretty casual office if you’re looking for that. Compensation was good. All my colleagues were wonderful.

Cons

The cons far outweigh the pros. The principal is highly disorganized and that caused a lot of issues for the designers. Any organization in the office came from the designers, not the principal. It also takes the principal a very long time to fulfill simple requests from his employees. Any small request has to be followed up on multiple times before receiving any answer. This goes for everything from office standard questions to redlines on drawings. Like I said, the office is casual, almost too casual. There are no professional boundaries between the principal and his employees. The office was often very messy and there seemed to be no care in upkeep. Any conversations regarding office organization strategies came from the designers, not the principal. In general, this may be harsh but it honestly just seems like the principal doesn’t care about the office, the business, and his employees as much as he says he does. Actions speak far more than words. It’s very disturbing. One last thing, which is more difficult to write about but needs to be said. The principal would often drink in the office (not openly) and be drunk throughout the day. He would arrive to client meetings smelling like alcohol, which became hard to bear. The entire office was aware of this but felt uncomfortable bringing it up with him. I truly hope that this issue can be resolved. It created a very toxic environment.

Pros

Generous salary, benefits, and perks. Remote or hybrid work is okay... no requirement to come into the office in case of a meeting that requires it. It's not the kind of office where people work until midnight. You can tell a life / work balance is respected. The focus is always just on getting it done and doing it well. The principal is very receptive to design ideas that originate with staff and doesn't micromanage or insist on a "house style".

Cons

There can be too much autonomy sometimes...not a good environment for people who need hand-holding or active supervision, or junior designers who have never worked in an office before.

Pros

Work-life balance (oftentimes to the detriment of projects), decent benefits, fully-flexible work location.

Cons

The office is an absolute mess—disorganized, poorly run, and plagued by absentee leadership. The head of the firm is routinely unavailable, skipping internal meetings and disappearing for hours with no communication, which derails schedules and leaves teams scrambling. Basic requests take days (sometimes longer) to get a response, and critical decisions stall because the owner simply doesn't show up. His empty promises are a running joke, and they come at the cost of real progress. The work has become formulaic, and any initial draw quickly fades under the weight of mismanagement. While the firm advertises work-life balance, the truth is there's no real leadership or structure to make that balance meaningful. There’s no upward mobility. The starting pay and benefits might look appealing, but don’t expect raises, promotions, or professional development. Young employees are often placed into project management roles without support, guidance, or additional compensation, due to the "hands-off" approach the firm promotes. When dealing with clients, the partner often undermines the design team and makes promises without understanding the project or schedule, creating chaos for designers, contractors, and others. He then shifts blame to absolve himself of responsibility. There is a consistent pattern of over-promising and under-delivering, both with employees and clients. The office itself is physically unkempt and mentally draining. Internal relationships are so casual that they sometimes verge on unprofessional or petty. The firm owner speaks poorly about younger employees to his senior team and favoritism is blatant. As other reviews have noted, he clearly gives preferential treatment to some female employees while ignoring or undermining others. His behavior toward his favorites is unprofessional and unsettling, and it influences project assignments in obvious, unfair ways. This isn’t just a disorganized office—it’s a place where leadership actively creates chaos, shields itself from accountability, and fosters a culture of mistrust and dysfunction. I would not recommend this workplace to anyone.
