Cons
The best advice I can give anyone looking for a job is stay far away from State Farm. I worked for the company for many years, over 5 years and the company was great at the start. I was extremely excited to be a part of a company that treated their employees so well, that paid well and an overall work environment that was really fun, laid back but taught you a ton and it felt good to be a part of the company. But it started to completely change and crumble, some say it was due to the new CEO but let me tell you what you'd be in store for: non stop calls throughout the day. If you work in claims, you get tasks that get you off of the phones but the way the department schedules people for tasks doesn't make sense to anyone. One person will be on phones ALL day, back to back calls which is extremely draining when dealing with upset customers. And the person next to you will be on tasks ALL day, never making a call the entire day and listening to music and goof off with their cubicle mates. You feel this bitterness because you've been on phones all week and some people have it easy. Management claims tasks are distributed randomly, but that doesn't make sense. Also, do you like starting your work day at 9:00am, they give you a 15min break at 10am, lunch at 11:30 and another 15min break 4:00 and you're off at 5:00pm, not to mention it's your lucky day and you're on phones all day and it's back to back calls. If that sounds like a good day to you, by all means, apply at State Farm if you want to work for a company that cares so little about their employees. They'll pretend to want to hear your thoughts, your opinions. They'll do it to keep you quiet up but will anything change? No. At State Farm, you are just a number. Nothing more. Even if you do a great job, work your butt off and get a promotion, they will take it all away if it's in the interest of the business. I promise you. I saw it done to so many colleagues who also left the company, and it was heartbreaking to see all the work you put in to have it taken away for literally no reason other than "it's just business". Again, if you're okay with that kind of environment and want to be micromanaged and monitored for ever single little thing you do. Apply!
