Strategic Insight (New York)

Is this your company?

London office (Matrix Solutions, 55 New Oxford St) - a place with very low ethics. - Tech Strategic Insight (New York) Employee Review

Pros

Hard to say, perhaps only central location. Yes, you'll get to work with some technologies, depending on your role, but this is expected in a tech company right..

Cons

All the good ethical principles you can think of, you'll see broken. Things once said are denied, in a game of words managers spend most of their time in, 'brown-nosing' is highly encouraged and really should be the official company policy, it couldn't be more obvious (this is the term you'll hear from like day one). You have to be English to get promoted, you'll see some worst fit managers and really badly tempered directors. And some scared colleagues who will just sit quietly. The highest priority is given to internal politics and there is no any respect to management among to what ever was left of the good people crowd (unsurprisingly so). Normally good folks will leave or look to leave shortly. If you feel you were treated unfairly, you can bring it up but it will just be ignored even by HR. Seen this more than once! Sad that all juniors will think this is the standard to follow. They won't and don't have to change, just not to waste other people's time and perhaps hire only people of this type, this is the only objective for posting this review.

Pros

I loved working at Strategic Insight. It's a great blend of technology and mutual fund industry for those that want to speak both languages (finance and tech). Phil and Avi are both great individuals, and the rest of the senior management staff are really laid back and cool people. Compensation is tough to comment on - who do you compare to? I think they are fair for entry level - new graduates from undergrad. Upper management/senior level - tough to say. I certainly enjoyed working there for 2 years and learned alot.

Cons

The company is growing quickly however it still has that loose management type of feel. That is great for those who are entrepreneurial, but the lack of structure can be bad for those who are used to defined roles. For those ambitious types, there are plenty of opportunities to wear multiple hats and help out in other areas of the business.
