Pros
1. Free to work from home. 2. The work loading is not that big and stressful compared to work in fabs. 3. Proactive and professional colleagues 4. Work-life balance if you want 5. Good company image 6. You need to study front-end academic research, which is quite interesting to me.
Cons
1. Base salary is relatively low. 2. Since Synopsys is top 1 EDA company and we only have a few competitors, there are no other companies you can go if you don't like here. You can't easily increase your salary by jumping into other companies because you don't have many choices. In a sense, EDA is a dead end. 3. It's almost impossible to get promotion to manager in 8-10 years if you join without any work experiences. 4. The salary is largely dependent on your year-of-experience, instead of your contribution and professions, which is unfair sometimes if you're better than your colleagues but they get a better pay just because they have much more working experiences, which could be totally irrelevant to their current jobs, than you.
