Cons
Made the switch to the bank after having worked in a completely different industry for years. Thought the bank would be a good place to learn new things and offer stability. I joined after TD went through major restructuring and a number of layoffs. The churn continued through my stay there. Toxic office politics was abundant. You need to play the game as week or be left out in the cold. On the surface, the team displayed a positive attitude, but private conversations revealed an underlying dissatisfaction. Managers are yes men to the extreme. Cover your butt was a term I heard more times then anywhere I've ever worked. The fear of making independent decisions is palpable. This is what stifles the bank behemoth. It was very common for people to wait out the year, collect their bonus and leave, which sees a mass exodus at the start of the year. I happily resigned as I didn't fit in and felt bad for the disgruntled employees who stayed and were too afraid to leave their comfort zone.
