It is State work - Human Resources Specialist Texas Workforce Commission Employee Review

Pros

Ed Serna is a fantastic Director for the agency. If anything, his support and love for the people who work hard for the agency is worth working for the State. I wish everyone at the state were as wonderful as him. Working from home is good and is the only reason many have not found new jobs.

Cons

It is state work. You have people who are state workers. Too many fit that stereotype of lazy and doing enough not to get fired. If you work hard at all, you will get all the work. The culture in HR is terrible and toxic. The Director has no clue how much of that culture is contributed by him. He promotes his favorites and ignores those who are not. He pretends to "promote" others, but we all know that is just a cover-up and promote his favorites, who are not qualified for those positions. He cares more about metrics than the people. Human Resources is about humans, not numbers.
