Seems to have gone to war with own employees. - Executive Thompsons Solicitors Employee Review

Pros

Decent pay. Good history.

Cons

What has happened to this firm? They appear to be obsessed with hauling their employees into disciplinary meetings, which is not in keeping with their trade union values. They were criminally understaffed to deal with a re-structure which left files to stagnate, demanded unrealistic and unachievable targets from junior lawyers who were not given any time or room to learn and develop the skills to provide proper legal advice to their trade union clients. The place is now run like a call centre, including the departments which are not call centres, and not a national firm of solicitors.

Pros

None really. Very limited opportunities for career progression. Low pay. Continually increasing workload for the same money. Unless your face fits…

Cons

After many years of service, and no career progression whatsoever, I was treated appallingly when I gave my notice. My manager had no qualms whatsoever about bullying me (a disabled woman) to the point of virtually a nervous breakdown. Awful treatment from “a trade union” firm. I’m not the first and I’m sure I won’t be the last. I’ve witnessed many people being bullied out over the years. I’d give it a miss personally.
