Pros

Exciting start up with lots of energy and great work perks. Product is top of the line, and very impressive when showing clients.

Cons

In my experience, I felt extremely unsupported coming on board and being in the field. I got 3 days of training and was not contacted at all by HQ unless I reached out. I basically felt like I was running my own business from my home, trying to figure out a complicated product in a competitive industry with extremely high expectations and very little support. I never spoke with anyone from HR in my entire time there. I believe the company will be successful, but the rocket ship growth without the resources to really support their staff does not make for a sustainable business model. Additionally, I was told that ramp time would be about 4 months in a new market, when in reality I think it is more like 8-12 months. The sales cycle is long and payout does not occur for 45 days.

Thanks for the pros - that is great feedback. I hear you on feeling like you were running a business on your own, we recognize that some people really enjoy being remote in the account roles for that reason, they enjoy the flexibility and autonomy. However, we are disappointed to hear that you did not feel supported. That is something we are looking into, both process improvement for what is already in place and checking in more frequently via manager 1:1s. I am very surprised to hear that you never spoke with anyone in HR, our People & Culture team is typically involved throughout the onboarding process. Please reach out to us at hr@toasttab.com if you're willing, so that we can learn more about your experience and how we can address these things in the future. Pros

-Strong pay (if you hit your numbers) -Ambitious goals that challenge you -Competitive landscape that will force you to get better beyond exclusively selling -Founders still very involved and very visible to the company and employees -Team cultures are always strong -For sales, you always get in touch with prospects, which is an underrated pro -When leadership promotes internal mobility and career development they mean it and support it

Cons

-Numerous Sales teams that share the same markets/TAMs. Customers and prospects get exhausted of outreach - Since going public, the goal posts keep moving forward even if 60% of the org hit goal. -A number of core leaders have left, new ones still learning the ropes which was hindering the orgs and teams
