There is no test environment. There is a pre production environment that is basically a dumping ground for each team. So it can be hard to actually test anything. And there is a massive risk with this approach due to releases so it’s not guaranteed what you tested is actually what goes out live.
There has been a culture of blame from senior management if something goes wrong. I have heard of colleagues almost being fired due to bugs in production.
In learning automation, you have to use their framework, which is grand, but the two main people who look after that repo have just been layoffs so there is no support available.
The work itself isn’t that interesting, nothing really unique about it.
With the latest round of layoffs, the management haven’t been 100% transparent. All last year there was questions at every big town hall meeting asking if there would be any layoffs, and each time we were told no. And when they announced the layoffs, they said this decision was debated for a long while since last year. So it doesn’t appear the management team was telling the whole truth.
There doesn’t appear to be any career paths to move to other areas, not in the Dublin office anyway.
