Pros
Lots of work, lots of self learning
Cons
1. Medical benefits are lean. 2. Management style in each team can vary significantly. But overall, under actuarial and ALM, Senior Director level and above are mostly away from business knowledge but living on hearing results from doers. That results in heavy work load at lower level but rewards are given to the management. 3. Toxic culture among a certain group in ALM. One Sr Director with big teams doesn't allow different voices even if they are factual based. Contribution of work results isn't the key to success but listening to her 100% is most important to career advancement. 4. Lack of technical strength and essential actuarial knowledge in that Sr Director and judgements on performances are based on their preferences of personality, which is the level of listening. 5. Difficult to get promotions based on work results 6. Smart and capable people tend to leave under that environment. Hard to attract talent.
